For the third installation in the brochure series, Vitrine Gallery becomes a frame to this installation of drawings and sculpture, and a window into the artist’s studio.
Following on from the music event ‘The Stage has Eyes’ programmed by Edwin Burdis, he has moved the sculptural works from the event into the gallery and worked with them alongside further elements that would normally fill the studio wall. Throughout the course of the exhibition, Burdis will also make additions and changes to the installation.
Edwin Burdis’ practice explores a unique and extravagant fusion between art, music and sub-cultural references. His drawings and sculptures, which he exhibits as backdrops for his performances and installations are part of an on-going compulsion to produce.
HE WANTS WHAT SHE WANTS follows on from his solo exhibition Home Service at the Hayward Project Space, which he described as “a doorway to my body, my home, my mother’s home, my family, my friends, my London, my island, this Britain”. Both exhibitions use the gallery space as a place for experimentation and open up the fabric of the working art studio to the viewer.
