The first installation in the brochure series, Fool’s Golden – paper; yellow, household gloss paint. 2010
Fool’s Golden develops from ‘Fool’s Gold‘ a piece from a recent body of work, ‘Broca’s Area’. ‘Broca’s Area’ explored the structure of formality, and regiment, in relation to some of the organising principles of language.
Adopting the iconography of ‘bling’ as a vague (yet suggestive) narrative backdrop, ‘Broca’s Area’ widens its scope through the configuration of objects. Each of the works relaying tentative links between conceptual and visual associations; an experiment in form and a chain of systems for reading and engaging with various modes of language. Meaning, thus becomes malleable and ‘liquid’.
For BROCHURE, Fool’s Golden will expand upon the work recently set up at The Woodmill’s Project Space, to engage directly with Vitrine’s unique dimension.
